Editing multiple creatives (on several insertions) by views

Working by creation and editing multiple insertions

The Work on Creatives view is an “inverted” view of the standard campaign media plan. This tree structure makes it easier to configure creatives assigned to multiple insertions.

The Tree View

In the campaign administration, the top left Work on insertions and Work on creatives buttons are used to switch between two views, showing the elements of a campaign using two different trees structures.

When Work on creatives is selected, the campaign appears as follows:

– Level 1: Campaign

– Level 2: Creative

(Creative Labels)

– Level 3: Site/Offer (Ad Network)

– Level 4: Insertion

By default only the Creative level is visible. The Site / Offer and Insertion levels can be expanded by clicking on the level directly above them. Below each creative you will find its associated labels.

If you hover the mouse over a level, the corresponding action menu appears.

The filter area above the tree view allows you to display only certain items: search by creative or label, and filter the type or size of the insertion.

Only insertions with creative (Redirect and Images) will appear in the Work on Creatives view. An icon beside the insertion indicates the type of insertion (RD: redirect, IM: Image).

On each level a colored dot indicates the Play/Pause status of the creative within the insertions:

–  On the Insertion level: the green dot indicates that the creative is set to Play on this insertion while the red dot indicates that it is set to Pause.

–   On the Campaign and Creative levels: the green dot indicates that the creative is set to play on at least one insertion and the red dot indicates that the creative is set to Pause on all insertions.

An alert icon may appear at different levels to indicate that a problem is detected in the settings or in gathering statistics.

–         Editing one or more creatives assigned to different insertions

Check boxes allow you to select the insertions that the creatives are assigned to so as to edit one or more creatives, on one or more insertions, simultaneously.

The checkbox directly on the line of the creative allows you to select all insertions to which a creative is assigned.  The checkbox at the campaign level will select all creatives of the campaign, on all insertions.

Click the Edit selected button above the tree view to access the Creative editing tabs (Properties, Clicks URls, Targeting, 3rd Party Tags) and edit the settings for all creatives on all selected insertions simultaneously.

The settings of the last insertion selected appear in the forms within each tab.   When you edit a field, an icon appears in front of it to signify that the modification will be applied to all insertions selected.  The number of insertions it applies to is displayed beside the title in the editing window and next to the Edit selected button.

View : Optimization ( Targeting)

The Targeting (/optimization) view is available in the campaign administration. It allows you to view and edit targeting/optimization options configured for the creatives.

To the left, the Work on Creatives tree view displays the campaign’s creatives and the various insertions they are assigned to. On the right, you can view and edit global optimization/targeting options for a creative (across all insertions) or edit the options for specific insertions:

  • Activate a creative: click Play/Pause to change the delivery status

Weight: Click on the stars to select a value (25, 50, 75, 100) or enter a custom value (200 maximum) to set a different weight (or share of voice).

(If you entered a value greater than 100, all 4 stars will be colored. To return to exactly 100, you must enter the value manually).

  • Sequence
  • Scheduling
  • Systems
  • Geolocation
  • Profile
  • Retargeting

For the last 5 options, either click the Add button or the text specifying the configured settings to open the editing panel for the creative assigned to the insertion.

You can edit settings at two levels:

– Creatives level: the settings are automatically applied to the creatives across all insertions (except those configured to automatic optimization )

– Insertions level: the settings only apply to the creative within the given insertion.

To edit optimization settings on specific insertions only, check the boxes and then click edit selected to edit creatives assigned to different insertions.

When the optimization settings on a creative are different from one insertion to another, the word “mixed” (in grey) will be specified on the creatives level.

Remember:

–  Weight, Sequence, Scheduling, System, Geolocation, Profile and Retargeting options can only apply if automatic optimization is not enabled on the insertion and if at least two creatives are active over the insertion (status = Play)

–  These options are not available for creatives made up of several ad positions.

–  It is recommended you set a generic default creative for the insertion before configuring these options on creatives.

View : Clicks

The Clicks view is available in the campaign administration. It allows you to view and edit the click URLs associated to creatives assigned to different insertions.

To the left, the Work on Creatives tree view displays the campaign’s creatives and the various insertions they are assigned to. On the right, you can directly view and edit default clicks (Click URLs).

Before launching the campaign, it is essential that the default clicks be defined for creatives assigned to insertions. This screen displays the default URLs that will be triggered when clicking each of the creatives, on each insertion.

The URL can be specifically set for a creative assigned to an insertion (displayed in black) or be inherited from a URL defined at a higher level in the media plan – insertion, site or offers or campaign (displayed in grey).

You can directly edit the URL of creative assigned to an insertion in the overview (click to edit the line).

If you wish to edit the click URL of a given creative across all insertions it is assigned to, use the checkbox to select the creative and click “edit selected” on the upper left to access the Click URLs tab associated to creatives.

If a creative includes extra clickTags (Extras) redirecting to different click URLs, they cannot be configured directly in the Clicks overview. You need to select the creative(s) using the checkboxes and click “Edit selected” to access the creative level Click URLs Tab.

Similarly when a creative includes several Ad positions, you can on only view and configure the first Ad position in the Clicks view. You can set any additional default Clicks to ad positions in the Click URLs tab associated to creatives.

View : Monitoring

The Monitoring view is available in the campaign administration and is used to track campaign creatives using its key metrics.

To the left, the Work on Creatives tree view displays the campaign’s creatives and the various insertions they are assigned to. On the right hand side you will find the statistics related to key metrics (impressions, clicks, CTR, conversions, conversion rates …) and their variation over the last period.

This allows you to have a global view (on all insertions) of the key metrics for a given creative and easily compare its performance on different insertions.

The statistics cover the period selected in the calendar at the top right, set by default to the current day. Click Metrics to select the metrics to be displayed from a predefined list of metrics. For a more detailed analysis of campaign results, go to the Reporting tab and access a complete list of metrics.
