Manual setup or synchronization
When you access a Search campaign you have just created in the Dashboard, you will need add the items that make up your campaigns either manually (one by one or by loading a pre-formatted Excel file) or by syncing an existing campaign in Google Adwords so that the campaign can be tracked in Weborama Campaign Manager (WCM).
The tracking of Search campaigns can be implemented through two different modes: the manual setup or the synchronization.
- The manual setup:
This is the basic tracking implementation mode , in which you have to generate clicktags (click tracking tags) in WCM and then set them (as landing URLs ) in the different search platforms campaigns administration tools (Google Adwords interface or Google Adwords Editor, Yahoo-Bing Search Alliance platform…) .
Note: If your Google Adwords account is linked to your WCM account it is possible to retrieve metrics computed by Google Adwords (number of impressions, number of clicks, costs) in WCM.
A generic clicktag is generated for each ad group, it can be then enriched with different landing URLs (per keywords or per Google Content Network placements) and has to be placed either on the keywords or site destination landing URLs of the ad group.
You can either create the ad groups manually one by one or loading an excel file.
- Manually:
To start creating the element manually, click on the Add a new search account link and then add ad groups for the search account added.
- Loading an Excel file:
To create ad groups through an Excel file, you must first download the Search Campaign Template to your computer (Click Download the Search campaign Excel Template). Fill out the pre-formatted Excel sheet with your media plan data. Then click Start loading to load the campaign items to WCM .
Important:Do not change the name of the column in the Excel file.
Once the loading is complete, you will land on an item confirmation page where further changes can be made before creating items
- Synchronization:
This is the advanced tracking implementation mode available for Google Adwords. With this mode, the clicktags are automatically created and implemented in Google Adwords when synchronizing in WCM a campaign already set in the search platform.
Metrics computed by Google Adwords ( number of impressions, number of clicks, costs, average position, quality score) are automatically retrieved in WCM.
Click on the Start synchronization and select the search platform the campaign from the search platform to be synchronized in WCM. When launching the synchronization, the ad groups along with their keywords, ads and placements are automatically created in WCM and the corresponding clicktags are automatically generated and implemented in Google Adwords interface through API.
Important :
An update of the synchronization ( click on the “update synchronization “ option menu) is necessary every time that an element ( ad, keyword, selected placement) is added to campaign in Google Adwords, or that a landing URL of one of the existing element is modified .
The synchronization is available only if the module has been activated on the WCM account
It is first compulsory to link the WCM account with the Google Adwords account, you will then be able to sync campaigns to WCM .
